Aitken, Paliani & Pauli meet Canadian Standards for International Games at OFSAA West

A total of 16 athletes training with London Legion, in 13 events, have qualified for OFSAA. Congratulations to Tyrell Mairs, Liam Mather, Matthew MacGillivray, Davis Edward, Cody Pauli, Kyle Hayes, Lexi Aitken, Brook Henderson, Kylie Paliani, and Erin Keupfer. Tatiana Desender advanced as part of Saunders Relay team.
Our distance group sends 5 to OFSAA including OFSAA West Gold Medalists and record breaker Charlotte Prouse, Muhumed Sirage, Levi Shimer-Whitehead, Laura Parkinson, Sarah Kwajafa and Camryn Steckel.
At OFSAA West, Kylie, Lexi and Cody had performances that qualified them for Canadian Team selection for the World Youth and Pan Am Juniors.
Cody Pauli exceeds World Youth 400mh standard

Cody Pauli ran an incredible 53.94 in the 400m hurdles today at Western University, far exceeding the World Youth standard of 55.00.
Cody is now ranked #1 in Canada. Should Cody be in the top 2 in Canada on June 21 ,2015, he will be selected to the Canadian team for the 2015 World Youth T&F Championship.
Congratulations Cody and Coach Sandy Cooper-Ryder.

Sydney Rizzo chosen for Italian Youth Games

Sydney Rizzo has been selected to represent Canada at the Italian International Children's T&F Championship. Sydney will be entered in the long jump and will be a member of our 4X100 relay team.
The meet will be held in Pavia Lombardia, just south of Milan. Congratulations Sydney and coaches.
Charlotte Prouse signs with the NCAA's University of Washington

Charlotte Prouse has signed today, with the University of Washington. The future UofW Husky will be start the 2015 NCAA season on both the Huskies XC and Track Teams.
Charlotte has had a remarkable high school career, with several OFSAA XC and Track & Field Gold Medals. She was also the 2014 Ontario Legion and Canadian Legion 3000m Champion.
The highlight of Charlotte's amazing career was at the 2013 World Youth Championship, held in the Ukraine, where she placed 13th.

10th Outdoor Season starts next week at TD Stadium

London Legion's 10th outdoor season for High School and Elementary T&F starts next Tuesday at TD Stadium at Western University. All training schedules and venues are now available on-line on our Training Schedules page. Our High School Middle Distance program is now in full operations.
London Legion's elementary middle distance program is on a brief break after the Ontario Minor Track Indoor Championship and resumes Montday, Wednesday & Friday at 5 PM at St. Thomas Aquinas High School.
Our 10th anniversary outdoor season will be highlighed by London Legion as the Host Club for the 2015 Ontario Legion Indoor Championship to be held at TD Stadium on July 3-4, 2015.

London Legion elementary athletes were among the best teams in Ontario at the 2015 Ontario Minor T&F Championship held this weekend at York University. London Legion dominated the 2015 Athletics Ontario (AO) hurdles events winning 1/3 of the gold medals (Liam Wilson above, and Lexi Aitken) and a bronze medal earned by Brooke Henderson. Congratulations to Youth Athlete Kylie Paliani who finished 9th. London Legion sent a small group of athletes to this year's championship, due to our strong participation at the Canadian Youth, & Junior Championship.

The results were tres bien at the 2015 Hershey Canadian Indoor T&F Championship held in Montreal last weekend.
Winning bronze medals were Tess Verhoeven (HJ) and Lexi Aitken (200m). Our youth women's team of Tess Verhoeven, Kaylyn Hall and Kylie Paliani placed 4th, 5th and 6th, respectively. Codi Pauli just missed a medal in the 400m, placing 4th, and Davis Edward was 5th, missing a bronze medal by only .02 sec. Lexi Aitken placed 6th in the Women's Open 60mh, and Kylie Paliani was 10th in the 200m..

Aitken, Verhoeven & Paliani make 2015 Spire HS Showcase Final

The was alot of love for London Legion hurdlers at the 2015 Spire HS Showcase held on Valentine's Day in Geneva OH.
Lexi Aitken placed 3rd, Tess Verhoeven 9th and Kylie Paliani 10th in a quality package event with the best high school athletes from Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and Canada.
Tess also placed 4th in the HJ, and Kylie 14th in the 200m. Kyle and Lexi also placed 6th in a quality field of 4x400 teams.

Madeline Aarts earns Ontario Junior Combined Events Championship Title

Madeline Aarts won the Gold Medal in the Junior Women's Combined Events Championship held today at York University. Madeline won 3 of the 5 Pentathlon events on route to her first Ontario Championship including the 60mh, shot put and the 800m.
Mather, Bouck, & Koyanagi named to Team Ontario Indoor Midget Team vs Quebec

Athletics Ontario announced today that 3 London Legion athletes have been selected to represent Team Ontario at the upcoming Ontario vs Quebec Midget Dual T&F Meet, to be held in Toronto on February 14, 2015.
Named to the team were Liam Mather (far left) in the 60m hurdles and high jump. Liam had a great tune-up this weekend at the Saginaw Valley Michigan HS Open. Tori Bouck (center) competes in the 2000m and Kyle Koyanagi (far right) in the 800m. Kyle and Tori are only first year midgets.
This is the first Ontario Team selection for Liam, Tori and Kyle. Well done athletes and coaches.
London Legion athletes earned a total of 11 medals at the 2015 Ontraio Legion Indoor Championship. Gold medals were awarded to Tori Bouck, Liam Mather (2), Cody Pauli and Mattew MacGillivray. Levi Shimer-Whitehead worked towards a Silver Medal as well as Tori Bouck. Bronze Medalists included Kylie Paliani, Kyle Koyanagi, Ursula Wood and Tess Verhoeven.
The story of the meet belongs to our Midget and Batam groupings that earned top 5 provincial rankings in sprints, hurdles, jumps and middle distance events. Watch for these names in the future, McKeen, Wood, Gee, Darville-Kaiser, McKee, Sladek, Girardin, Rizzo, Young, Hill, Jaquith and Froude.

Incredible performances by all lead to 7 top 10 Canadian results

Kyle Hayes (left) won the 60m 2015 Spire HS Open held in Geneva OH at the Spire Institute. Kyle's time was 7.07s. Teammate Brooke Henderson claimed the HJ win with a jump 1.57m.
London Legion's girls hurdle crew dominated the event with Lexi Aitken placing second, Brooke Henderson third, Tess Verhoeven 7th, Kylie Paliani 8th, Tatitiana Desender 10th and Madeline Aarts 12th.
Our 400m runners including Mackenzie Mayers and Tatiana Desender placed 5th & 6th. Cody Pauli placed 3rd and Davis Edward 6th in their 400m run.
In total 5 athletes earned US Elite performance titles; Lexi Aitken, Brooke Henderson, Cody Paulie, Mackenzie Mayers and Tatiana Desender.
High Performance team opens season this weekend at the Spire Institute

London Legion Track's high performance team is opening the 2015 indoor track & field season with 11 athletes travelling to the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio. Our athletes will be competing with athletes from Ohio, Michigan, New York, Tennessee and Kentucky.
The Spire Institute is recognized as one of the premier indoor track and field venues in the world. It hosts several indoor NCAA Championships for different NCAA Level 1 and 2 divisions.
Our Youth and Midget teams open next Saturday at York University at the 2015 Ontario Legion Indoor Championships. Entries are due by Sunday January 18. Our Junior athletes will compete at an Athletics Ontario open competition next Sunday.

Kyle Koyanagi wins 2014 Ontario Minor Track Award of Excellence

London Legion is very proud to announce Kyle Koyanagi has received the 2014 Ontario Minor Track Award of Excellence. Kyle is a premier middle distance athlete, with national level performances in the 800m, and 1500m events.
Kyle will receive his award at an MTA Awards banquet later in February. Many former Canadian Olympic athlete will be in attendance to recognize 12 outstanding young people in Ontario, including Kyle.

London Legion is very proud to announce that Thames Valley Board Teacher, and Coach, Deb O'Malley-Jaquith will be joining our coaching team.
Deb is an experienced XC, Volleyball and Track & Field Coach as well as a former athlete at Western University and at St. Bonaventure University in New York. Deb competed in the 1500m, 3000m, and XC. Deb currently teaches at Glencoe Secondary School.
Deb and her husband are proud parents of three wonderful children who are currently part of our children's programs. Deb's full bio will be in our coaches section in the next few days.

2015 Ontario Legion T&F Championship Meet coming to London July 3 & 4, 2015

The 2015 Ontario Legion Championship T&F Meet is coming to London on July 3 & 4, 2015. Ontario Legion Command T&F named London Legion coaches Linda Finley and Bud Willis as co-coveners earlier this week.
Bud and Linda are building a committee of voluteers to make this a wonderful event for athletes and coaches. Please contribute by getting involved at the December 3rd kickoff meeting at Lambeth Legion starting at 6:45. Please support this event.

London Legion athletes Tess Verhoeven and Tyrell Mairs were honoured to represent a wreath at the London Cenotaph during the 2014 London Remembrance Day ceremony. Tess and Tyrell were asked to represent the Youth of Canada honouring Canada';s war dead. Over 10,000 people participated in this year's event, the largest ever in London. London Legion Track begins second decade of excellence
Club athletes were selected to represent Canada at 14 World Championships & Olympic Games

London Legion Track & Field Alliance enters our second decade in November 2014. Starting from scratch in October 2004, London Legion has developed into a Canadian Track & Field powerhouse. All 2014 programs, schedules and venues are now available on our website.
The results of London Legion reflect quality & excellence. Club athletes have earned 14 Scholarships (7 NCAA, 7 CIS) and 5 National and 12 Provincial cards. Their highly accredited coaches have helped athletes set an unequalled 126 Ontario and 27 Canadian indoor and outdoor T&F records.
In the last 5 years, athletes developed by London Legion have been selected to represent Canada 14 times at World Championship and Olympic Games. In this period, Head Coach Sandy Cooper-Ryder was selected as a Canadian National Team Coach for 4 international T&F Championships in sprints, hurdles, relays and combined events.
In starting their second decade, London Legion remains committed to improving one of Canada’s best grassroots elementary Track & Field Program, with a variety of existing and new programs. Under the Leadership of Elementary Head Coach Bud Willis, London Legion has led Canadian results at North American Elementary T&F Championships. London Legion elementary programs allows families to choose between 3 programs on up to 6 different evenings for most of the year.
For the 2014-2015 season, London Legion’s leading high performance hurdle, jumps, middle distance and sprint programs will be integrated with elite and beginner strength and conditioning programs, a considerable value add and cost savings for athletes and their families.
Over the last two years, London Legion has also built Canada’s leading HD quality YouTube Track & Field Channel, with close to 20,000 visitors and over 18,000 minutes watched. Our YouTube Channel has been extremely helpful as a tool for college/university recruitment.
London Legion is proud to continue a remarkable partnership with six local branches of the Royal Canadian Legion. The Royal Canadian Legion is the national program sponsor of Youth Track & Field in Canada and will be hosting the Ontario Legion Youth Championship in London in July 2015.
Official club registration starts in November, however athletes can join throughout the year, with prorated membership pricing options.
