When do track and field events happen?

There are three seasons. Indoor is usually between January and March, Outdoor - April to July and Cross Country- September to November. Each season includes a number of events and ends with a championship meet. Athletes may attend any or all meets.

What are the types of events?

The events are broken down into four basic areas which provide lots of variety. They are Jumps, Sprint/Hurdles, Distances and Throws. Athletes of all sizes, shapes and skill levels can find something they like. Generally athletes can enter up to three events with up to two being track.

 Where are the meets located?

Meets are held usually within a few hours drive of London . All events at each meet take place on the same day. The MTA website http://minortrack.netfirms.com lists all upcoming events under the heading ‘Fixtures’. Meet information and schedules are posted here as submitted by the hosting club closer to the actual date.

How do athletes sign up?

Our club MTA coordinator will record and submit all meet entries and ensure waivers are signed. The entry deadlines are typically one week prior to the meet. All athlete entries and the coach and/or coordinator for each meet will be posted on our site at the deadline. Please discuss entries with your coaches prior to signing up to assist in preparation for competing. (Athletes in grade 6,7 & 8 are also eligible to attend OTFA meets and will want to ensure they are not overtraining)

Is there a cost to attend?

London Legion covers all meet and entry fees with your membership. If you are unable to attend a meet after you have signed up and entries have been submitted, please reimburse the club for your entry fees.

 Do coaches attend all meets?

Our coaches will attend meets if possible. Athletes are also encouraged to mentor younger or more inexperienced athletes in preparing for their events on meet days.

What happens on meet day?

A coach and/or MTA coordinator (or designate) will pick up the meet package and distribute athlete numbers on the event day. Athletes should arrive at least one hour prior to their first event as some events may be advanced up to 30 minutes depending on entries.
