October 7, 2011 London Ontario

London Legion Track & Field Alliance  and the London Middlesex Health Unit (Tobacco Control) have developed a partnership to promote healthy lifestyles  at the 2011 Ontario Minor Cross Country Championship to be held at Fanshawe Conservation on October 29, 2011.  London Legion was one of the first sports organizations in our region to adopt a Tobacco Free Club policy working with the Health Unit.  Together we promote  at all club practices, events and especially this year  at the upcoming Ontario Championship, healthy and safe physical activity for children and adults.

To commemorate this partnership, we have jointly created a souvenir racing bib that will be worn by all competitors at the Ontario XC Championship.  It will be a wonderful keepsake and a constant reminder of the importance of living a healthy lifestyle, especially without tobacco in any form.   Our joint message is ‘Play, Live and Be, Tobacco Free’. Special fun events with the wonderful people from the Ministry of Health are planned at the venue.  A sample of the souvenir bib is shown at left.  Click on the bib to see the actual size.

Flag initiative welcomes athletes from Canada and the World

flag_project.jpg

London Legion, in preparation for competitions in the Agriplex, will be working to make the Agriplex a little more colorful.  We will be hanging Canadian, United States, International, London and Royal Canadian Legion flags.

We are asking families to purchase or provide a 3 X 5 national flag to celebrate the diversity and multicultural nature of our country.

New Century Flags, on 457 Commissioners Road, (519) 686-2086
will be keeping an inventory of all national flags purchased by club families and have given us a special price of $16.99.  Call Judy for details, and tell her you want to be a part of the London Legion flag project.  Club managers will pick up the flags if needed.

Thanks in advance for working as a team to help ua welcome  athletes from across Canada and the World.
